Biography
RJ Gray Jr. (Bob) is a native of Stratton, Maine, grew up in Massachusetts and
currently resides, once again, in Stratton. He attended Mass College of Art for
a year and a half in the mid-70s majoring in sculpture. Gray returned to college
graduating from Salem State in Massachusetts in 1989 with a degree in studio
arts -printmaking concentration- and a minor in English literature. His work has
been included in printmaking competitions throughout the U.S., as well as
Denmark and Finland. He was listed in Who's Who in America 2003 and 2004
editions. Gray is a member of both the Boston Printmakers' and the Los Angeles
Printmakers' societies. He is currently employed at the Original Irregular
newspaper in Kingfield.

Artist's Statement
Little is more pervasive than imagery. Images bombard us at record rates, in
unprecedented ways. One response to this over-stimulation is to take images for
granted, another, however, is to focus on a select few. Take an image and focus
on it, isolate it in such a way as to require the viewer's full attention -this
is my response. Much in the way icons are designed to function, I attempt to
embody various elements in my works to create a sense of the sanctity of what
might otherwise be overlooked.
